  • What is reflexology?

Puberty

Puberty can be a bewildering time of change, provoking anxiety, emotional dysregulation and low self-esteem. Reflexology is a gentle, enjoyable and calming treatment that can support young people as they mature and adjust to the challenges of the pre-teen and teenage years.

Reflexology for pre-teens and teens

Puberty is tough. Raging hormones and a deep need to feel independent, alongside a changing body, anxiety, and a bewildering amount of pressure at school. No wonder so many young people suffer with their emotional wellbeing, with an estimated 20% of adolescents experiencing mental health problems.

Reflexology can help teenagers during puberty by:

  • Promoting hormone regulation
  • Managing stress and anxiety
  • Improving concentration
  • Boosting self-esteem
  • Easing muscular tension
  • Supporting communication

As a complementary therapy, reflexology works well alongside medications and other therapies. It is gentle, non-invasive, and safe to use on children and young people.

I am a passionate advocate of teaching children and young people to proactively tend to their emotional and psychological wellbeing. Participation in complimentary therapies and self-nurture is a wonderful introduction to the life-long skill of self-care, encouraging positive attitudes to wellbeing and healthy habits.
