After 20+ years working in the corporate world, my perspective was changed forever when my beloved father became very ill with Parkinson’s and dementia. He was in a care home for 18 months before he sadly passed away and in that time, I felt there was very little I could do to help him apart from just being there.
I realised that people in care homes rarely feel a therapeutic touch as part of their every day. They are dressed, washed and fed, but it would be inappropriate to offer massage or other touch therapies in many cases. I would sometimes put lotion on my dad’s hands and feet as they became very dry, and I noticed how relaxed he became just by doing this – often falling asleep.
I looked into reflexology as a result, and quickly became a huge advocate of the approach and its benefits. I gave up my full time job to qualify and practice. I'm a member of an international practitioner group which means I have constant access to the latest techniques and can share and gain knowledge and information with other highly qualified therapists which ultimately benefits you in my treatment room.
I'm also constantly researching and this has led to curating a wealth of resources which I'm delighted to share with my clients. Check out the Good Things Hub to see for yourself.
I love reflexology, and very much look forward to welcoming you to try it for yourself!
I have completed a Level 5 Diploma in Practitioner Reflexology with the Contemporary Reflexology College run by Allison Walker. This is the highest level of qualification in this field, the equivalent of a Foundation degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) and is fully regulated by the Awarding and Qualification Organisation Agored Cymru. This qualification covers detailed Anatomy and Physiology, specialised pathologies relating to each body system, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) approaches and mind/body connections to wellbeing and disease.
Training to this standard means that I am qualified in specialist subjects including Enhancing Fertility and Maternity Reflexology, Adapting Reflexology for Cancer and Palliative Care and NeuroEndoPsychoImmunoPody (NEPIP) – an advanced reflexology treatment effective in helping people suffering with stress and anxiety.
In 2024 I began a journey into Chi Medics, an holistic energy therapy using organ Chi points on the feet to balance whole body energy. It is similar to reflexology in that I work on the feet but according to my clients it feels quite different - I have had some fantastic feedback combining both approaches so am delighted to be able to offer this. This qualification and training runs to Level 6 so is another in-depth study into how we tick and how to help improve our experience of ourselves and how we feel.
I am a registered member of the Association of Reflexologists and a registered practitioner with the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC). A condition of both memberships is that I regularly undertake advanced professional training so you can be sure you're getting the very best from the world of holistic wellbeing research and techniques. I have created a page (Good Things Hub) to share with you other aspects of good health that I have gathered along the way.
